The move into COVID-19 Tier 4 across the whole of Berkshire means new rules for athletes 18 and over and a new timetable for use of the athletics track.
Organised outdoor sport for under-18s (under-18 on 31st August 2020) and disabled people is allowed but any socialising before and after sessions is prohibited. Indoor sport for under-18s is only permitted for education or to facilitate childcare that enables parents or carers to work, seek work or take part in education.
Organised outdoor and indoor sport for those 18 or over on 1st September 2020 is not permitted.
U18 athletes can continue to train in a group but athletes 18 and over can only train on a 1:1 ratio. This means either 1 athlete with 1 coach or 2 athletes with no coach.
Outdoor sports facilities are allowed to open and the club and the team at TVAC have agreed a timetable for coaching sessions with each club coach who has said that they wish to use the track. Athletes and their coaches are only allowed on the track on agreed days and at specific times and everyone must always follow the agreed COVID procedures. Failure to do so could result in the track being closed for everyone.
Members of WSEH are advised to contact their coach(es) to find out the arrangements for their training group both on the athletics track and at other outdoor locations. Please do not call the sports centre directly as the reception is closed.
The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Haydee and the rest of the team at TVAC for their support of the club and for all their hard work to keep the track open so that as many athletes as possible can train in a COVID-secure way.
