Summer 2025 track & field season success!

As it did in 2022, 2023 and 2024, the 2025 summer season has gone really well for Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow Athletic Club.

In the National Athletic League – we compete in the top division and finished 5th this season to secure our place in the highest level of club athletics.

In the Youth Development League Upper – for under 20s and under 17s – we compete in the top division in our region and we finished 3rd this season.

In the Southern Athletics League – for seniors, under 20s and under 17s – we compete in the top division and we finished 2nd this season to remain one of the top clubs in the south of England.

In the Youth Development League Lower – for U13s and U15s – we finished 2nd this season, with four 2nd places in the 4 matches.

In the Alder Valley League, which is a development league for U13s, U15s & U17s, we had a huge number of athletes compete and achieve great development – for example almost 100 at the last match of the season, which the club won and finished 2nd overall this season.

We have over 450 active members, i.e. athletes training and competing. We are a thriving and welcoming community athletics club.

We are proud to be one of the top eight clubs in the country, who compete in the Premiership Division. In 2021 and 2022 when the premiership division was 16 clubs, we finished in the top 8 to qualify for National Finals. This year, as we did in 2023 and 2024, we finished in the top 5 to secure our place in the highest level of club athletics

After the last match of the season, Lesley Pearson, National Athletics League Team Manager said:

“Thank you for what was an incredible team spirit and effort for the last NAL match of the season on Saturday 16th August in Birmingham. We arrived for the competition with a team that had been impacted with 8 changes to the team in the 48 hours leading up to the competition! We had more gaps in the team than I’ve ever experienced. The athletes and the coaches attending the meeting were out of this world! Lots of juggling and checking timetable clashing was conducted resulting in an incredible team effort by all to pull the team to an overall 5th spot finish in the NAL Premier Division! Please take a well-deserved bow.

Thanks to our great team of officials, turning up for every match to secure the 50 points available for each match. Thank you.

Thank you:

  • Seb Simpson for throwing the discus and shot.
  • Nick Mannke for stepping in to throw the discus and javelin, he’s not a thrower he’s a sprinter.
  • Amy Warre for holding off ending her long season to jump here for the team.
  • Leila Zamani back from injury getting some jumps in for the team.
  • Charlotte Payne getting the win in the hammer with a massive throw over 70m’s and securing a SB, then out again in the discus grabbing more points.
  • Rachael Denton-Snape throwing the hammer and discus.
  • Toby Splain and under 17s Oliver Densley and Jess Slater vaulting for the team.
  • Benji running a seasons best in the 400 hurdles and then a leg of the 4 x 400 team.
  • Michael Louise answering an SOS call 24 hours earlier to come along and run the 400m hurdles.
  • Natalia Wloczowska running a seasons best in the 400m hurdles and a PB in the 100m hurdles.
  • Lewis Cotterill running the 800m’s and then stepping in to run round the 1500m’s for valuable points.
  • Ben Dewar, well what can I say about Ben! He ran a PB in the 800m’s then worked out with his coach Neil Dodson which events he could fit in which we could maximise the points potential! Those events were the 3,000m steeple chase (he’s not a chaser) and the 3,000m’s. He’s a 400m/400m hurdler/800m runner and definitely not a long distance or chaser!!! Thank you Ben.
  • Lottie Dewar and Sophie Dowle, both ran the 800m’s with Sophie running on her birthday! Yep she turned down celebrating her birthday for competing for the team. Sophie was rewarded with a PB. Then the ladies spiked up again and ran the 400m’s securing further points. After a short breather they were off again in the 4×400 relay! Amazing.
  • Elysia Chilvers, the youngest member of the team at 15 years old, came 2nd in the high jump to an Olympian and achieved a PB! Brilliant.
  • Madisyn Woodley was also in the high jump securing great points.
  • Matthew Ajayi just back from a serious hamstring injury was running in the 100m’s along with Dan Trueman securing great positions in very high standard fields, they then came out later in the day to run great legs of the 4×100 relay.
  • Nav Kaur and Keira Gilman ran strong races in the 100m’s and great legs of the 4×100 relay. Nav also ran the 200m’s for the team.
  • Ben Fisher was jumping in an incredibly high standard long jump competition, bringing in those much needed points.
  • Jamie Haydock-Wilson competed in the long jump and triple jump and finished his day off with a fantastic relay leg in the 4 x 400.
  • Jake Norris and Taylor Campbell our amazing hammer throwers got the job done with a win from both of them and maximum much needed points.
  • Khizar Afzal came along and ran the 3k steeplechase and then after a mini break filled in for the 1500m’s. Those points kept dribbling in.
  • Jaiden Dean ran a great sprint hurdles race to grab 2nd spot.
  • Jack Kirby also ran the sprint hurdles snatching 3rd spot, he then went and had a go at the shot before finishing his day at the triple jump which neither are his events! Thank you Jack.
  • Rachel Clutterbuck and Jacqueline Heller dominated the womens steeplechase with gutsy runs to secure 1st and 2nd spots, whoop whoop more great points.
  • Freya Witheat threw in challenging conditions to secure 4th in the javelin.
  • Jodie Smith kindly last minute came along and did the javelin and shot to fill a couple of empty gaps, securing valuable points.
  • Belinda Sergent and the lovely Mia Woodley triple jumped to some great points.
  • Anouska Wedrychowski was quite poorly but turned up for the team to run the sprint hurdles.
  • Isaac Osei-Tutu and Tobenna Okoro ran in very competitive 400m races with Isaac securing a PB and both keeping those points rolling.
  • Lio Owona travelled back from his holiday to high jump for the team and partnering him was Dylan Phillips, both secured those valuable points.
  • Lucy Wilkinson was running the 1500m’s, she wasn’t feeling very well but gave it her best shot finishing 4th to grab some great points. Just over an hour later she was back out filling a gap in the team in the 3,000m’s finishing 3rd in the A string! Amazing.
  • Luhane Smith was also running the 3,000m and ran a great race to finish 2nd just outside her PB.
  • Charlotte Adamo ran a strong 1500m’s and was rewarded with a PB.
  • Leon Francis and Alex Haydock-Wilson ran in very competitive 200m’s, with both securing those precious points.
  • Grace Sikora ran an almighty race in the 200m’s and then a fantastic relay leg in the 4 x 400m.
  • We were short of a B string men’s javelin thrower, had run out of options and then came along Wez Francis! He threw the javelin for the very first time and bought in more of those valuable points.
  • Kanma Dozie was in great form throwing the shot and yes you’ve got it bought it some great points.
  • Dan Trueman, Matthew Ajayi, Luca Szalai & Leon Francis secured a speedy 3rd place in the 4×100.
  • The women’s 4×100 relay team was put together last minute with Natalia Wloczowska, Keira Gilman, Tamara Ezeiokoli and Nav Kaur running to finish 7th and grab those points.
  • Lottie Dewar, Grace Sikora, Natalia Wloczowska and birthday girl Sophie Dowle ran on very tired legs in stiff competition to keep those points coming.
  • The final event of the day saw Isaac Osei-Tutu, Benji, Jamie Haydock-Wilson and hiss brother Alex Haydock-Wilson run an exciting relay to snatch 4th spot and those final lovely points.

Thank you to what was an incredible show of team comradery, coaches and athletes pulling together to work out solutions and support for all of the team was very special Saturday”.

After the first match of the season, Lesley said:

“WOW! WOW! WOW!

I had to send out an email ASAP to thank every member of the NAL team who competed today at Eton. You were all incredible!!!

Some of you achieved some great performances, some of you felt your performance today was OK and some of you were disappointed. The team, the club and myself thank you all for competing today in what was one of the highest standard NAL matches we have ever competed at. Every valuable point you secured was appreciated, thank you for the athletes who competed out of their comfort zone today.

What a team performance, all the points you pulled in secured us the incredible finishing position of 3rd place!!! Yes 3rd place. I am blown away with what you all achieved today, thank you so much. This puts us in a very strong position with 2 matches to go, we need to push on and pull out some more big performances to secure our position in the Premier Division again next season.

We had on average a relatively young team, with our youngest member only turning 15 years old yesterday!!! Yes 15! And competing in the NAL, incredible achievement Elysia.

Thanks to the athletes who filled in last minute to get points, Jack and Seb in the Triple jump and javelin.

I can’t mention you all but thank you for competing for the club, throughout the day athletes achieved 17 PB’s and 13 SB’s!!

A big thanks to our team of officials who secured the team a marvellous 50 points! A special thanks to Paul the Meeting Manager, you are a star.

Thanks to the many volunteers working behind the scene to help the meeting run smoothly, Adrian & Lesley processing the results, Nick, Simone, Saby and Laura the canteen crew, Irene the officials co-ordinator and our masseur Jess.

And as always thanks to the coaches who proactively help sort solutions with the competition day issues”.

We compete in the top division in our region, delivering a high level of competition for under 17s and under 20s.

After the second match of the season, team manager Nick Pearson said:

“I am delighted to let you all know that as a result of some exceptional performances and brilliant and selfless team work, the team managed a phenomenal 2nd place overall in the match. This puts us in a really strong 3rd position in the League going in to the final match on the 6th July.

Thanks to all athletes that took part, parents and coaches for supporting. Once again we saw a mass of events covered by athletes competing out of their comfort zone in events they hadn’t done before. We managed a full allocation for the relays with many athletes bravely stepping in to ensure we maximised the points, lots of sprinters running the 4×400/4×300 relays, always a painful experience for them, but as a result, we came away with a great outcome.

Despite being in a brilliant position, the job is not finished yet. We need to finish 4th or better in the last match on July 6th to ensure we maintain our Premier Division status.

We push this league as our top priority young athletes league because it offers an excellent level of competition to our U17 and U20 athletes, often almost at National Championship level in some events, and this gives our athletes great development opportunities to test themselves against some of the best athletes in the country. I’ve been absolutely delighted by how the athletes have turned out and risen to the occasion in the first 2 matches. We now need one last push”.

After the last match of the season, Nick said:

“I can confirm that we were eventually 5th in the match and in a very close race for 3rd, 4th and 5th we managed to hold onto 3rd place, to retain our Premier League status for another year.

Many, many thanks to all that supported the team this summer, athletes, coaches and parents, we have been light on numbers all summer, but not light on spirit.

To give you and idea of how close it was between our main rivals, over the season, the total match points gained across all 3 matches was as follows;

  • WSEH 1550
  • Shaftesbury 1549
  • Reading 1563

So across 3 matches, only 14 points separated the 3 of us, that’s just 2 athlete performances. Because we positioned above Reading in match 1 and match 2, it is us that manage to stay up, and it is Shaftesbury that have been relegated. It really highlights that every single performance and point counts, and for all of those athletes that have turned up when it was easier not to, or have agreed to do a non favoured event to score a few points, it really did count.

The Final League standings were as follows;

  • Blackheath and Bromley 18 league points
  • Harrow and Dacorum. 14 league points
  • WSEH 10 league points
  • Reading AC 9 league points (1563 match points)
  • Shaftesbury 9 league points (1549 match points) Relegated
  • Havering. 3 league points Relegated

Well done to everyone that took part, see many of you again next summer.
