WSEH Club Update May 2021
Jodie Smith competed in the Heptathlon in the National Combined Events championships at Bedford on Saturday & Sunday 29 & 30th May 2021 and came 2nd in the u23 competition and 3rd in the senior competition. She achieved a new heptathlon pb of 5881 points which meets the qualification standard for both the 2021 U23 European Athletics Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Alex Haydock-Wilson represented Great Britain in the 4 x 400m relay at the European team Championships in Silesia, Poland on 30th May. Unfortunately, despite a good run by Alex on leg 2, the team failed to finish due to an unsuccessful baton change between the 3rd and 4th runners.
Rachel Clutterbuck and Luke Birdseye coached by Shireen Higgins, top the U17 women’s and U17 men’s 1,500m steeplechase rankings with times of 5:04.61 (new club record) and 4:34.25 respectively. In addition Jake Meyburgh (also coached by Shireen Higgins) tops the U13 boys 1,500m rankings with 4:36.64.
