Fantastic elite athlete success summer 2022!
The club has enjoyed one of our best ever season’s in team competitions. We qualified for the National League Premiership final, we are currently 4th out of 16 in the Southern League and in the Youth Development League, our U17s and U20s qualified for the National Final, as the club finished the season as one of the top 6 clubs in the country!

In addition to the team success and following in the footsteps of famous past members, such as Sir Mo Farah, Bev Kinch, Keith Connor, Lawrence Clarke, Mark Hylton, Mark Richardson, Nicola Sanders, Paula Fudge, Shirley Thomas and Wendy Sly MBE, we are also enjoying one of our best ever season’s with regard to our elite athletes.
Following the UK Athletics Championships at the end of June, we have four National Champions!
- Jessie Knight – 400m hurdles
- Morgan Lake – High Hump
- Tade Ojora – 110m hurdles
- Jodie Smith – Heptathlon
At the English Schools National Championships in early July, we had 43 athletes qualify and compete! We also had, in recent times, our best ever medal haul, with 6 silver/bronze and 8 winners!
Senior Girls
- Jess Hatch – 1500 steeplechase – Gold (and a new PB)
- Amy Ware – Triple Jump – Gold
- Lucy Fellows – Long Jump – Bronze
Intermediate Girls
- Clemmie Harris – Hammer – Gold (and a new PB)
- Freya Ruffels – 1500 steeplechase – Gold (and a new PB)
- Ella Davey – 1500 steeplechase – Silver (and a new PB)
Senior Boys
- Michael Allison – Javelin – Gold
- Sam Hodgson – 3000m – Silver
Intermediate Boys
- Teddy Gannon – Discus – Gold (and a new PB)
- Otis Irwin – 400m – Gold (and a new PB)
- Toby Splain – Pole Vault – Gold
- Kevone Gallimore – 400m – Silver (and a new PB)
- Demari Gumbs – 400m hurdles – Bronze (and a new PB)
Junior Girls
- Lilianne Jervis-Allan – Pole Vault – Bronze
The following athletes were all subsequently selected for England in the Schools International match a week later in Belfast:

Intermediate Boys
- Kevone Gallimore – 400m

Staying with Juniors:
We had two athletes qualify for the under 18 European Championships in Jerusalem in July:
- Luke Birdseye – 2000m steeplechase
- Rachel Clutterbuck – 2000m steeplechase

We had four athletes qualify for the under 20 English Championships in July:
- Michael Allison – Javelin – Gold
- Luke Birdseye – 3000m steeplechase – 4th place (and PB)
- Jess Hatch – 3000m steeplechase – Bronze (and a new PB)
- Sam Hodgson – 5000m
And we had an athlete qualify for the under 20 World Championships in Columbia in August:
- Michael Allison – Javelin
In Seniors, we had three athletes selected for the World Championships in Oregon in July:
- Jessie Knight – 400m hurdles and 4x400m mixed relay
- Morgan Lake – High Hump
- Alex Haydock-Wilson – 400m and 4x400m mixed relay
Also in Seniors, we had three athletes selected for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August:
- Jessie Knight – 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay
- Morgan Lake – High Hump
- Tade Ojora – 110m hurdles
Finally, also in Seniors, we had four athletes selected for the European Championships in Munich in August:
- Alex Haydock-Wilson – 400m (bronze) and 4x400m relay (gold)
- Jessie Knight – 400m hurdles
- Morgan Lake – High Jump
- Jacob Paul – 400m hurdles
