TVAC Track closure for cleaning and re-laying of track – IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ.

We are emailing to inform you that the track at TVAC will be closed for the track to be cleaned Thursday 25th June through to and including Sunday 28th June.
The indoor area will be open for exclusive use by WSEH AC on Thursday 25th June, 6pm – 9pm. Those taking up this option must respect all the other users and be aware of the track etiquette at all times. Area’s cannot be reserved, everyone has to work together to make it work, it could get very busy.
The cleaning of the track is to prepare it for the work that needs to be carried out on the track to re-lay sections of the tartan. This can only be done during the track season as the companies need the better weather conditions to carry out the work.
The TVAC outdoor track will be closed from Saturday 11th July through to and including Friday 21st August. There isn’t a time frame that works perfectly for the club and athletes for this work to be carried out, it’s work that has to be done.
With the outdoor track and infield, it was agreed with the contractor carrying out the works that the entire track facility would be closed for the duration of the project. This includes the track, infield, stands and balcony areas, there will be no access to these areas while the works are taking place.
The club have worked hard to find alternative training facilities for the members, the nearest facilities weren’t available to book. On the Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout this period WSEH AC have paid and booked the facilities for our club members, we have exclusive use of the track and field facilities at the outside track by Brunel University from 6pm – 9pm.

Sports Park have the following equipment available for WSEH AC members to use: Hurdles & starting blocks – this equipment is stored in a lock up, the key is collected from reception and a deposit given for the key.
There is a high jump bed but no pole vault facilities – this is locked up, the key is collected from reception and a deposit given for the key.
Long throws are not permitted due to the infield going through rejuvenation works.
The steeplechase has not been in use for a couple of years, this is also unavailable.
TVAC have worked with us to try to offer solutions with indoor access. WSEH AC will have access to the indoor area at TVAC for the Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6pm – 9pm during the track closure period. Not all the club athletes can do their session in that area which is why booking the track at Brunel has been sourced hopefully offering enough options for all the athletes and coaches to continue training.
To remain using the indoor area will be the academy athletes, other field or track users must respect it’s a small space for potentially quite a few athletes to use.
High jump, pole vault, triple and long jump can still be done at TVAC indoors, for high jump and pole vault the coaches need to arrange with the centre for the equipment to be set up.
TVAC indoor sports hall will be available throughout this period for club nights from 18:00–21:00, general athletics on Wednesdays from 19:00–21:00 and Sundays from 10:00–12:30.
The Hammer, Discus & Shot coaches and athletes, you have use of the outside throws cage during this timeframe.
Regarding the playing fields next to TVAC track, these areas are maintained by the Eton Grounds team, who put a great deal of work into keeping them to a high standard. As a result, any use of the fields requires prior approval from Eton College. In the past, where the fields have been used without agreement, TVAC have been contacted by Eton College regarding this to inform WSEH AC they cannot use them. TVAC are unable to authorise their use. The club is currently trying to look into whether permission may be granted, as soon as we hear back we will inform all of you.
Once coaches have worked out the logistics of where and when they will train, they will communicate this to their athletes. Car shares may need to happen for athletes to continue to train as required at this time of the year on an outdoor track. This needs to be worked out by the coach, potentially parents could rotate on car sharing.
Anyone who would like to train additional days at the Brunel track, they can train during general training times/days and pay £6. It’s worth checking with the Sports Park in advance that the track is available to use.
Please don’t reply with queries, it will be the athletes coach who will communicate training plans and locations, communicate with the coach.
As some of you are probably aware Bracknell track is closed for 16 weeks, due to it being re-layed, we aren’t the only one’s affected by having no track to train on.
